Dr Gavin Lockley is a multi-talented musician and entrepreneur who specialises in the creation of music and events that celebrate Australian culture.

As composer and producer his Symphony of Australia was first performed and recorded by Sydney Symphony in 2007 and released by ABC Classics the same year. Subsequent ABC Classics recordings include Ballads of the Bush and Orchestral Songs of Australia.

Dr Lockley also collaborated with Dr Colleen McCullough on the First Fleet musical Morgan’s Run, also released as a concept album by ABC Classics. Current projects include the musical Kings of the Air, based on the life of aviator Charles Kingsford-Smith.

As tenor Dr Lockley has recently released an operatic album with his wife, soprano Renae Martin, entitled The Enchanted Hour, featuring the Sydney Lyric Orchestra under Maestro Brian Castles-Onion.

As film supervisor Dr Lockley most recently produced The Honourable Rebel (ODEON, UK).

As piano repetiteur Dr Lockley has worked at the Hochschule für Musik, Detmold, Germany and at the Australian Institute of Music in both the Opera and Musical Theatre Departments.

As conductor he formed the Australian Institute of Music Orchestra and produced and directed their first state tour.

Dr Lockley has also lectured at the Australian Institute of Music in theory, harmony, aural perception and music history. His PhD was written on the subject of opera and popular culture.

Dr Lockley has sung for royalty at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle as a guest of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
